In reply to yours EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}/HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}20/09.8.20, I hasten to explain that my reply to Ms9/LG23.6.20 was given verbally and was to the effect that we have no object in sticking to Mex petrol, that we do not get better terms from them than we should get from Shell, that we have ordered Mex because you specified it and that at the time the note was written (23.6.20) the Bowring Petroleum Co;Ltd. who distribute Mex spirit were better equipped for distribution in the Derby area than the Shell; in fact there was a time not long ago when Shell could not deliver Duty Free spirit.
I understand that the Shell Co. are now in a better position as regards supply in the Derby area and if you and Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} consider that Shell spirit is preferable to Mex spirit, we can make a change without very much disturbance and trouble.
Of course if Shell Aviation spirit is required, the price will probably be higher than what we are to-day paying for Mex No.1 spirit.
