Armoured Cars - Hand Barring Gear. We have been considering whether something could be provided which would be very easy and quick to make in the event of the authorised hand barring gear being dangerously delayed. We have therefore prepared a drawing "F" Sch:630 of which we send two prints, shewing a method of swinging the flywheel by means of a wire rope. It will be seen that there are very few details, and it occurs to us that if trouble arose with the proper scheme, it would only be a matter of a few days to provide all the cars with this apparatus. We do not, of course, suggest that it in any way supersedes the other scheme, or that it should be put in front of it, but what we suggest is, that it should be detailed so that in the event of trouble arising it could be put into the works without delay.
