8 / 1163 HPS{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr} from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Ed{J. L. Edwards} c to E/PSN Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Ed{J. L. Edwards}12/M.16.2.37. Valve Regulator Indicator. We have tested the end instructed in memo E/PSN1/MN.25.1.37 and find that a period now develops at 3.700 r.p.m. This is considered to be the same as previously developed at 2000 r.p.m. If this is the case, then probably increasing the gauge of the reed to 16 will cure the trouble and we should be glad if you would unsweat the old reed and make a new one of this gauge, all the dimensions being as on the marked up print of LEC 5435 sent with the above note, i.e., increasing the fluted portion of the reed to within 1" of the top and changing the material from brass to steel.
