Dear Mr. Hives:

This note is to introduce Mr. George A.{Mr Adams} Crittenden, General Sales Manager of the Lovejoy Manufacturing Company of Boston.

Mr. Crittenden is a very good friend of ours and both he and Mr. Lovejoy have given us every possible assistance in adapting the Lovejoy shock absorbers to the car.

As compared with other types of shock absorber that we have tried we find the Lovejoy superior in four important respects.

(1) It interferes least with the smooth riding of the car on good roads, while having an adequate restraining effect on bad roads, to prevent throwing of the passengers.

(2) It has no ball joints or other metal connections and therefore requires no lubrication and does not rattle. In view of the general neglect of lubrication and adjustment on cars in this country this is of the utmost importance.

(3) It is absolutely protected against dirt and water. The only attention required is to add oil perhaps once a year or even more seldom than this.

(4) It is soundless in operation.

I understand your only objection to the device is its weight.
