Xu66 GRH ROY.{Sir Henry Royce} c. Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Ey. Sft.{Mr Swift} Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} E.3/HP.19.8.36. Phantom III D.W.S. Jacks. Referring to your memo ROY.{Sir Henry Royce}2/MG.18.8.36, we have been working very closely in cooperation with Sessions on this matter, and I now feel that a real step forward has been made with the alteration to the gland and the changes in the testing arrangements for the rams. I do not agree that the testing rig used now produces a very much worse condition on the rams than on the car, but it is certainly representative of the free ended method of loading which appertains when jacking on the car. We agree that all rams delivered previously to this gland operation should be considered under suspicion whether they go through our routine test or not. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} | ||
