SALES DIRECTOR'S OFFICE. Messrs. Rolls-Royce, Ltd., DERBY. 10th June, 1937. Attention of Mr.Grylls. Dear Sirs, Major Cox has telephoned the writer concerning the JACKALL system which we have been preparing for test on your chassis, and we beg to explain that apart from the difficulties of manufacturing an entirely special set of jacks, we have been unable to obtain delivery of certain outside material including the size of spring necessary for this job. We now learn from Mr.Donald Sessions that we need not proceed further in this matter. By the way, Mr.Sessions refers to the fact that you had in mind a figure of 70/-d for the Jackall system. The writer has certainly mentioned a price around that as obtaining in the case of the jacking system for mass-producing chassis firms but we are sure you will readily appreciate that we could not possibly supply a suitable system to conform with your special wishes excepting at a greatly enhanced figure. The whole question of cost centres around design and quantity and, unfortunately, our standard stock material is unsuitable for your requirements. According to our records - we quoted on an entire standardisation basis the nett figure of £5.0.0. on the 10th May, 1934. Contd. | ||
