1225. (Experimental Dept.) Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}13/R.{Sir Henry Royce} 27th November, 1936. Messrs. Price's Patent Candle Company Limited, Battersea, LONDON. S.W.11. For the attention of J.W.G. Brooker, Esq. Dear Sirs, Thank you for your letter of the 21st November. We have now got going a large number of cars in customers' hands, and have had no further trouble with choked filters since we discontinued the use of Price's Motorine 'C' oil. We are, therefore, forced to the conclusion that we have to blame the oil, and not the design of the power unit. We are, however, as anxious as you are to clear up the difficulty, and have various modifications to the filter design on test. The filter sent to Mr. Cowen had run about 22,000 miles on an experimental car, and as far as we can ascertain about 4,000 since it was last cleaned. Yours faithfully, For ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
