X7230 SG.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} FROM R.{Sir Henry Royce} SECRET. R4/M11.7.29. c. to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} SS.{S. Smith} EXHAUST. Re SS.{S. Smith} I feel certain the roar is due to the unsuitable exhaust system, but varies considerably with different bodies. (In my 18-EX. it is nearly absent.) We propose abandoning the long tube and cutout, fitting a new type of rear silencer which has no organ pipe. Breaking up the length has not proved a complete cure. Regarding the Bentley car we do not require purchase. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
