X.438713 To CJ. from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} C. to R.{Sir Henry Royce} F.R. [STAMP: RECEIVED AUG 11 1922] PILOT JET TO REPLACE PRIMER. We have received signed standardisation sheets from all Officials in connection with the above. It has been agreed to by everybody. R's comments on the sheet are :- "Adopt at once - cannot see that this should cost more than primer and its fittings". One reason for the extra cost is the fact that with the pilot jet we carry the controls to the instrument board, with the primer we stop at the dashboard. Carrying the controls up to the instrument board has been requested by customers and Sales Dept. a number of times, and it is undoubtedly a decided advantage. BJ's comments on the standardisation sheet are - "Agreed, if priming device parts in stock are used up first", and R's remark on his standardisation sheet is - "ditto" (to BJ's remarks). The unanimous opinions of every Official at the Works who has had practical experience of starting cars under all conditions or has to deal with customers complaints of starting cars, is that the pilot jet should be fitted immediately. At a Conference held at the Mid. Hotel on 27th. Oct. 1921 present - CJ, PN{Mr Northey}, C, LHS{Lord Herbert Scott}, Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}, Br, D, Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}, Sft{Mr Swift}, Hr, Hy{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer}, EY, Wd{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead}, EFC, My, Rd, Hn{F. C. Bailey - Chief Engineer} should carry on". This point was brought up by Sales Officials contd:- [Handwritten note on left side]: Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} In view of para 1 adopt at once | ||
