GOSHAWK A.T. DYNAMO END COVERS.
We propose to treat the question of the dynamo end covers as follows:-
FOR THE FIRST 25 CARS.
These being fitted with the original pattern of exhaust pipe not suitable for magneto drive should have dynamos with the original pattern of end cover held by central screw. These covers were designed to come off with the original exhaust pipe. These 25 cars will not be suitable for fitting magneto unless the whole of the induction and exhaust pipes are replaced, so it is therefore not unreasonable to use the original dynamo which in the event of fitting magneto would have to have a new armature and minor alterations on the rear end.
FOR GOSHAWK II. CHASSIS FOLLOWING ON THE FIRST 25.
These are O.K. with the covers already constructed and exhaust pipes instructed. There is one point however which might be mentioned - the position of the dynamo on the Derby drawing handed to me by Ry. is much more to the rear and is nearer the exhaust pipe than our Lcc drawing No.1554. We cannot quite understand how this has occurred but in either case the cover can be got off the dynamo and taken away enabling the brushes to be inspected while the engine is running.
FOR GOSHAWK II. CHASSIS FITTED WITH MAGNETO.
We send herewith drawing No. Lcc 1571 shewing how we propose to treat this. The idea is that the dynamo brushes must be inspected while the engine is running and as it is not possible to entirely remove the dynamo and cover owing to the
