The following notes were made in connection with the visit to the Vauxhall Motor Co's New Research Laboratory:- The accurate flow-meters used for measuring the consumptions are called Cox flow-meters, they are produced by the Detroit Commercial Engineering Laboratories, they cost £90 to £100. The tachometers used on the Test bed are of the synchronous type operated by the mains, and are used by the General Motors Research. Taub is going to help us to obtain some of these. The General Electric Co. make adjustable test bed feet which may be more economical than manufacturing them ourselves. Vauxhalls believe in having their test bed feet off the floor, so that they can do oil consumption tests by weighing the oil. They use Parkinson's blow-by meter which is more accurate than the ordinary gas meter. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
