5.25-18 SIZE

In view of the fact that the cars now using this size expect to retain it because of its excellent service record, and because it is anticipated that one or two other 1930 models will use this tire, upon motion duly seconded it was

VOTED to include the 5.25-18 tire in the table.

4.50-20 SIZE

In view of the fact that this tire will be discontinued as original equipment on all cars in January, upon motion duly seconded it was

VOTED to eliminate the 4.50-20 tire from the table.

4.50-21 and 4.75-20 SIZES

Upon motion duly seconded it was

VOTED to eliminate the 4.50-21 and 4.75-20 tires from the table.

5.00-20 SIZE

Discussion brought out that both this tire and the 5.50-20, while not in use as original equipment on passenger-cars, finds use as original equipment on small trucks on certain rims. The 5.50-20 was eliminated from the passenger-car sizes by the action of the Division last Spring, and upon motion duly seconded it was

VOTED to eliminate the 5.00-20 from the passenger-car table.

Mr. Hale's suggestion that new large sizes be added in view of the development now in progress, was discussed, but it was decided that until suitable sizes were actually developed and adopted by some company as original equipment that it would be best not to include them in the table. This will be given consideration at the next meeting of the Division should any further progress have been made.

RIM SIZES

There was considerable discussion as to the method of indicating the rim size, particularly with reference to whether the figures shown for rims should indicate the rim on which the tire was to be measured and the attendant maximum tire width on such a rim for measuring purposes only, or whether the specifications should show the rims on which it was recommended tires should be used.

It was the opinion of some present that the Society should undertake through the specifications to show the best rim suitable for use with each of the tires and the adding of the word "recommended" over "rim section width" was considered.
