There was also considerable discussion on eliminating the "maximum tire width of rim" figures, but serious objection was made.

A motion to show the rim sizes as the recommended rim to be used and the elimination of the "maximum tire width" measurements was seconded and later amend-ed{J. L. Edwards}, to drop from consideration the elimination of the tire width measurements.

Upon motion duly seconded it was

VOTED to show two columns of rim sizes, namely flat base and drop center, each to give the recommended rims for use and to be so headed, and to include separate columns on maximum tire measurements for each of the rims shown in each type as far as these figures are determined. This was carried with one dissenting vote.

Upon motion duly seconded it was

VOTED to recommend to the Standards Committee the approval of the at-tached table on tires and rims for passenger-cars.

(II) BALLOON TIRES AND RIMS FOR COMMERCIAL VEHICLES REVISION

Upon motion duly seconded it was

VOTED to add to the present specifications the 6.00-20 and the 6.50-20 with their respective rim dimensions, changing the dimension 10.80 to 10.95 on the 10.50-20 tire for "maximum tire width on rim".

Upon motion duly seconded it was

VOTED to add the 5.00-20 and 5.50-20 and their attendant rim dimensions to the table.

Upon motion duly seconded it was

VOTED to eliminate the 10.50-20 on the 8-in. rim from the present specifications.

Upon motion duly seconded it was

VOTED that the flange heights for all rim sizes should be revised in accord with the dimensions approved by the Tire and Rim Association at its August 1929 meeting, these dimensions to be furnished to the Standards Department by Mr. Lemon.

A table of the final revised specifications on balloon tires and rims for commercial vehicles is attached as it will be presented to the Standards Com-mittee with the exception of the flange heights, which will be in accordance with the Tire and Rim Association action as noted above.
