INSTRUCTIONS FOR SETTING UP AND ADJUSTING THE RR. FOUR WHEEL BRAKE SYSTEM. It is most essential in the setting up and adjusting of the RR. four wheel brake system that the following instructions are carefully carried out in order to obtain the maximum efficiency and avoid trouble arising when wear of brakes takes place through the levers operating at angles in which they were never intended. The drawing G.72580 gives the angular position at which the various levers must be set. These positions are arranged so that the levers will give the maximum amount of efficiency through the range of wear of brakes before they require adjusting. Failure to set the brakes as shewn will probably result in variation of the braking efficiency and pro-portion of braking as wear takes place. In this system the braking effort is so distributed that 40% goes to the front, the remaining 60% goes to the rear. This takes into consideration the drum diameters and is based on the assumption that the front and rear brakes are equally efficient, hence the importance that the initial bedding of the brakes is correct. FRONT BRAKES. Lining. The correct Ferodo lining should be accurately fitted. Drawing No. G.70007. The rivets should be countersunk to the correct depth and should not stand higher than .173" below the surface of Ferodo when first fitted. contd. | ||
