X766 WD.{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead} BS.{A J. Barnes - Assistant Manager} [Strikethrough] c. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} BY2/H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} 8.1.25. 20 HP & 40/50 HP. CHASSIS. COOLING. --------------------------------- Referring to Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}4/BM. 5.1.25. we do not know of any reason for modifying the existing scheme in regard to the fitting of louvred bonnets and taking extra precautions in order to try and attain more efficient cooling. As the matter stands at present, we have only special permission to fit louvred bonnets with special provision to overcome boiling in Switzerland, which can be extended by Sales to the Alps generally, where cars are being used on the Mountain Passes. Obviously, this is a matter which we ourselves have no knowledge of, and must be decided by Sales. Our general instructions are to take special precautions for cars running in Switzerland or likely to be used much for touring there. We are prepared to extend these provisions to cover the Country bordering on Switzerland which is of a similar nature to Switzerland itself, but we are not prepared to extend it to Austria, Spain, Italy and India. To do so would be an entire modification to our policy as carried out in the past. There are of course special cases for India which will occur in connection with cars which are running more or less amongst the Hill Country fairly regularly. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} BY | ||
