Bailey - Chief Engineer} RHC{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer}/JB.8/LS.11.12.36. RE: BENTLEY FLOORBOARDS. In reply to Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux}4/R.5.12.36. the complaint referred to has been investigated but is not a new complaint. 1. The trouble is due to the bad fit of the rivet in the holes before rivetting. This is due in the first place to bad alignment of the holes in the parts to be rivetted together. 2. The result is, they either force something into holes to bring them together, or else they put a reamer through, the same thing would happen if you reversed the rivet as suggested. 3. As the job is not done at these Works we are sending a representative to the manufacturers to investigate the general position. We also advise a steel rivet in place of alum, and a good fit would cure the trouble. RHC{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer}/J.Bowers. | ||
