WRAITH III. HOLES IN CHASSIS FRAME CRUCIFORM TO CLEAR EXHAUST PIPES.

We send herewith E.CD.258 Modification to Exhaust Pipe holes in Cruciform Torque Member Side Plates. Wraith III.

The holes in cross for exhaust pipes were shown 3.250" deep on the design drawings of the exhaust pipes, although in order to use standard punches for holes they were reduced to 3.000" deep on the frame designs. Owing to engine movement combined with assembly limits and sagging of supports and pipes, there are signs of the exhaust pipes having rubbed on the metal of the frame members after the cars have been on the road.

In order to give increased clearances and still use a standard size of punch, we have increased the depth of the holes in frame cross by .500 making them 3.500 deep, keeping the centre lines of the holes as now.

Will you please modify the details to suit this alteration as soon as possible.
