Silencer for Carburetter. ------------- With reference to Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}5/E29.10.30. We have signatures for everyone except yourself for the air silencer carburetter. Actually the carburetter run on 24-EX. was much more noisy than that run on 18-EX. at Le CanadelHenry Royce's French residence and we have therefore reverted to the original carburetter. This has done well over 10,000 miles. Briefly, the characteristics of the carburetter are :- Loss of power due to air silencer 6.5% at 3,000 R.P.M. 3.8% at 2,000 R.P.M. Nil below 1,750 R.P.M. More efficient than the air maze because easier to clean and restore to original condition. Reduction in maximum speed of .9 to .6 M.P.H. No measurable difference in acceleration from 10 to 75 M.P.H. in top gear; no difference in third gear. From 10 to 30 M.P.H.; .6 secs increase from 30 to 60 M.P.H. in third gear. Has been fitted on 18-EX. at Le CanadelHenry Royce's French residence, fitted to 25-EX. and 20-EX. - These were given in our report Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/AJL.1/MJ.22.10.30. The carburetter will, of course, be fitted to both English and American chassis. It is an efficient air cleaner. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson} | ||
