1020a. EXPERIMENTAL DEPARTMENT. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/CTS.{C. Trot Salt - Carburation}9/JH. 3rd. May, 1939. The Alta Car & Engineering Co.Ltd., Kingston Bye Pass, Surbiton. Dear Sirs, We thank you for your letter dated 1st. May, and regret having omitted to give you the thickness of our bearing. The thickness is .062, and as you have .022 white metal at present, the rod and cap would be thinner by .040 if accommodation were made to take the same thickness of bearing. In the circumstances, we consider it worth a trial in your existing rods. We would however advise you to get in touch with Messrs. Wellworthy, and let them specify clearances etc. as any information we have given you is simply from our own experience. Wellworthy on the other hand have first hand experience on your particular type of engine. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
