X. 4118 To BY/HM.{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} from EFC. EFCl./T9.1.25. X.4414V. C.A.V. BATTERY TYPE 12XR2 - EX CHASSIS 57-S4. - COL. VAUGHAN LEIGH - We have now made tests on this battery. It was found that the densities in the cells were rather high. The battery is only in a condition in which it will give 1/4 of its rated capacity and is considered to be of very little further use. If it was one of our standards it would probably be worth while opening it up for examination as to the cause of the failure, but this not now being the case, (we having sometime previously arrived at the conclusion that these batteries were not very good) we do not think the battery is really of any further material value. We are, however, giving the battery new acid and giving it one further low rate capacity discharge test to see if it will somewhat improve before finally scrapping. EFC. | ||
