Coverley - Production Engineer} SpectreCodename for Phantom III Flywheel and Clutch. We send herewith N.Sch.4571 which shows a flywheel and clutch with 90% greater inertia than with the present designs. The ring which is secured to the flywheel cover need not be dowelled or located rotationally, otherwise than by the clearance fit on the bolts. There is no spigot between the clutch casing and the crankcase and consequently four fitting bolts are provided. Setscrews are to be used in place of studs between the crankcase and the casing. We understand that the dipping switch bracket is to be made detachable from the dashboard in which case the upper half of the casing can be removed first and assembled last. When removing the lower half of the casing there is no need to remove the rear engine rubber mounting from the casing or to remove the lever from the clutch operating shaft. N.Sch.4571 attached.
