[Illegible crossed out text] X6080 re MEMO. 3971 Re Major Houstoun - Chassis 58-AL. The Owner has complained on several occasions of the air valve piston becoming stuck in its cylinder when the engine is quite hot. He has returned the original one to us, and we hand it herewith to Sft.{Mr Swift} It will be found that if this is heated to a little hotter than could be held in the hand, that the piston does [handwritten correction 'stick' inserted above the word 'take'] take in the cylinder. Will Sft.{Mr Swift} please examine this and say if the clearances provided are standard to drawing, or if he can find anything else wrong with it. If it is all standard, will he please hand it on to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} for advice as to what we should do to overcome the complaint. We would add that another air valve from Standard Production has stuck definitely on several occasions. although as soon as it cools down slightly it works perfectly freely. Hm{Capt. W.
