Rear Gearbox Rubber Mounting - Phantom III.

We shall have to revert to the original rubber mounting N.Sch.3892, where the rubber is fitted as a loose piece.

31-EX, during its recent mileage in France, has been fitted with a rubber to N.Sch.4463, which shows the rubber moulded to steel on both the inner and outer rings. Two rubbers of this type have been fitted to the car and in both cases the inner steel ring has become loose from the rubber, owing to the contraction of the rubber when cooling from the moulded temperature.

The original rubber, N.Sch.3892, completed the mileage satisfactorily on the first SpectreCodename for Phantom III in France (32-EX) and has been satisfactory for gearbox noise on 30-EX, 33-EX, 34-EX and 35-EX.

If a new design of this type of rubber is to be evolved to simplify the number of parts and to attach the rubber to the respective steel parts, we consider that the silent bloc bush method of production is best for circular rubbers.
