HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X5820 To BY from BJ. Copy to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} C. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} CWR. 20 HP Tyres. BJZ/E18.9.28 I attach copy of C's report on the situation, C4/C8.9.28. We have this morning received from you a statement that to bring in the 20" wheels suitable for 32 x 6 low pressure tyres on the 70th chassis in "N" Series (due out from the Works during the week ending 6.12.28) would entail scrapping material to a value of approximately £91, or if we deferred this modification until chassis 701 in "N" Series then the scrap would be approximately £67. Under the circumstances, we agree to introducing this modification at the 70TH chassis and losing the £91, as we all feel that it is most important that this modification is introduced at the earliest possible moment. I am sending a copy of this to R.{Sir Henry Royce} as it has bearing on R1/M17.9.28. This arrangement will of course enable us to fit baloon tyres to our demonstration cars immediately we have sold the cars which will not be so fitted. We cannot give demonstrations with balloon tyres until the customers who try the car will receive the benefit of the modification if they order. BJ. Enc. Copy of C4/C8.9.28 | ||
