X3602 X4345 We give below an extract from a letter we have received from Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} re. Belgrave tyres fitted on 7-Goshawk-11. -------- The Belgrave tyres are a hopeless failure and were not fit to remain on the car. They are now at the Paris Depot and I have asked them to keep them there for reference. They are badly worn and the tyres which were used on the back wheels are worn out. The mileages and position of the tyres are are follows:- Tyre No.120626 front wheel mileage 1563 condition. 50% worn. " 120665 " " 1563 " " 120620 rear " 1251 worn (Tread gone out (fabric showing. scrap( " 120647 " " 1568 " 120645 " " 312 Perceptable wear on ribs. If these tyres have been paid for we should get our money back. Apart from the wear they puncture very easily - small sharp stones cutting through them. The protecting bands for the tubes are also very poor and are not nearly so good as the Dunlop which are endless. The Belgrave bands often were destroyed when a puncture occurred and tyre went flat.
