RE. RR. F.10 CARBURETTERS. X.3933 X3996
X.3841 X.4044

Referring to the telephone conversation I had with RG.{Mr Rowledge} this morning, (here confirmed), as a result of E's visit and recent reports, I understand that the carbs, both those Claudel Hobson have made for the above engines and those we have designed to the same Claudel Hobson technical data, are not likely to give satisfaction without considerable modification.

All things considered both E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} and myself think that the carburetters in the Vee are the ones most likely to give satisfaction and we have decided to concentrate on these. I regret however to conclude that it will be necessary to entirely redesign the carburetter and its connections to the engine before we can expect to obtain an ideal job, both as regards functioning correctly, accessibility to the ignition plugs, and simplicity.

Fortunately we believe we know exactly what is required and have made a complete rough scheme of the arrgt., including the controls. It is a great advantage that these parts can be put on the engine after it is completely built, and tested with other temporary carburetters, but it will be imperative that this work shall be done with the utmost despatch.

We are proposing to abandon the new scheme and place the emulsion jet in the centre of the throat as in the earlier carbs. which have proved so successful.

We are proposing to retain the power jet but contd:-
