For the attention of Mr. Hives

Dear Sirs,

Herewith we hand you 1 Dozen experimental KR3 plugs, which are the Standard plug in every way except that in place of the mica washers on the outside of the plug a tube of insulating material has been used. Half of the plugs are fitted with a black insulating material, and half with a brown. We have tested both materials here, and consider that they are suitable for the purpose, but we want you now to test them on an engine to confirm this, as if suitable it will save a fair amount of mica, which is becoming increasingly difficult to obtain. We should be glad if you could conveniently have them tested on an engine for say 20/30 running hours, and then return the plugs to us for examination.

Thanking you in anticipation of your kind help in this matter, we remain,

Yours faithfully,
THE LODGE SPARKING PLUG CO. LTD.
