travelling at high speeds (70 - 85 m.p.h.). Restarting after ten minutes, the pressure was found to be O.K. and continued so with speeds under 70 m.p.h., but after another long burst of speed the trouble re-occurred. From general appearances it was thought that the trouble was due to excessive oil temperatures. On return, however, I learnt that this cause is very unlikely and that the trouble is probably due to the relief valve.
(3) Charging Rate of Dynamo. This does not hold the discharge of the headlamps. The charging rate being 13 amps, whilst the discharge rate is as follows - (a) Headlamps 14 amps. (b) Centre Lamp 8 amps., and (c) Side and Tail Lamps 6 amps.
This question is rather important on Mr. Fairey's car as he will be using it considerably for night journeys.
(4) Dashboard Lighting, and distribution of light is very poor on this car. Brighter lamps are necessary.
(May it be suggested that a resistance could be used on these cars so that the dashboard lights could be dimmed to one's personal taste - also secondary lamps on the other side of speedometer and clock to improve the distribution of light?.)
(5) Radiator Shutters. The cranks in radiator head, operating the shutters, were found to foul the fan in the fully closed position. This trouble developed when the shutter controls were altered (just before departure) to obtain the full opening of the shutters. It could be overcome by slightly reducing the diameter of the fan.
