[Handwritten top right] Y8770. [Handwritten left margin] HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} To Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} From BJ. Improvements to present Phantom. Copy to R.{Sir Henry Royce}, Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}, BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer}, C., Sx., CWB. _______________________ At our conference at Derby yesterday it was decided: a.{Mr Adams} that the parallel axle control should be adopted immediately. b. Rear spare wheel carrier. This should be adopted immediately it has run 2500 miles over the worst possible roads at high speed in France. It is understood that this test can be made very soon and will not in any way delay the introduction of this improvement. The test will then continue and complete the 10,000 miles which will be finished before the chassis are delivered so that, if any unexpected defect is found during the 10,000 miles, there will be still time to stop the chassis reaching the public. c. The radiator with integral shutters will be tested in the same manner. This, however, has not been sent to London for approval of this latest design. Please send a car for this purpose as quickly as possible. We should particularly like the side of the radiator to be sloped in line with the bonnet in the same way as is arranged on the 20 HP. Can this be arranged? We also wish to test this during the 10,000 miles on some long mountain passes and for continuous running in London traffic. This could be arranged if Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} will please communicate with CWB. d.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} Battery in Frame. It is hoped that this and possibly some other items could be included in this test. e.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Pressed steel wingstays, and } These are in abeyance and being dealt with separately. f.{Mr Friese} Grouped instruments. } BJ. | ||
