| Copy. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} from Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} MX{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer}/T29.9.36. Trials car 3-AZ-38 Cx{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager}11/KW25.9.36. We sent our Tester Lewis who is stationed in London to "N" to investigate this job. After speaking to him on the telephone we decided to send two complete tested heads with valve mechanism to fit this car, and have the others returned to the Works for investigation. We may find it necessary to fit the heads on to a car at the Works and run them, in order to try and reproduce the trouble. We are inclined to think, the fact that several guide valves were found loose in their bearings has no bearing on the trouble, and we suspect some derangement of the hydraulic tappet mechanism. With regard to paragraph five in Cx{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager}'s memo, after discussing this with LA{L. A. Archer} we think that this is a separate issue, and had no bearings on the trouble at Brooklands. (Sgd) Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} | ||
