Re: FRONT WILMOT BREEDON BUMPERS.
CHASSIS B.19.DK - Mr. FERENCZI
------------------------------------

The front WILMOT BREEDON bumper of the above chassis has given a considerable amount of trouble in one way and another, and we have to-day dismantled it in order to fit a new one in its place. The dismantled bumper has been entered into our Stores with instructions for it to be sent to you for examination.

The following is our report upon the matter:

The above chassis has been in service since 8.6.35 and, up to the time of writing, has covered 27.026 Kms. and the following work has, in the past, been carried out to the bumpers:

1. 7.6.35 - Fitted 2 K.4210 castl.. nuts to end studs of bumper, in place of the original plain ones.

2. 16.7.35 - 4,352 Kms. - Complaint end stud of bumper broken. S/fitted a new stud (early type).

3. 2.8.35 - Dismantled the bumper and modified it by fitting 2 FB.2215 reinforced type clips and 2 FB.1839 strengthened type studs.

4. 20.9.35 - 9,500 Kms. - Customer complained to our Nice Depot that he had lost "one of the end lead weights on the road". This occurred owing to a failure of one of the end studs. Fitted a new FB.1839 stud etc.

5. 16.12.35 - 13.918 Kms. - Generally examined and tightened up the front bumper and its fittings.

6. 23.3.36 - 18.368 Kms. - N/S FB.1839 stud broken. Fitted a new stud.

7. 27.4.36 - 22.262 Kms. - FB.1839. Stud broken. Dismantled the bumper, removed the studs from the end of the bumper. Made two special studs from .500" R.R. bolts and fitted them to the ends of the bumper and fitted one each FB.2477/S safety straps to the front bumper as per D.S. Hd.{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy}300.

The car has been sent to us again for attention to the bumper. We find that the n/s stud, one of the special ones which we made, has failed.
