3 1/2 LITRE MAIN BEARINGS.

5. We have had no main bearing failures, although when engines have been stripped for overhaul we have had to fit new main bearings to perhaps a dozen cars, as it would not have been policy to re-build the engine with the old bearings. Wear of the intermediate bearings has been the most noticeable feature. Paris have fitted new bearings on certain cars more as a precautionary measure than anything else.

4 1/4 LITRE BIG ENDS.

6. We have had six big end failures on 4 1/4 litre cars. These are all Hall's Metal. Two of these were on the same car - B.47-HM.{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} Hutton.

7. There have been no failures with large capacity oil pumps.

8. There have been no failures after attending to the main bearings.

9. We give below a list of 4 1/4 litre cars on which the big ends have failed.
