re SPARKING PLUGS.
Bentley Engines.
----------------

With reference to B.51-DK., E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} W. Boughton, and B.159-DK, Mrs. G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} T. Mills, we note that following upon visits in the case of these two cars, FBS.{F. Bell-Scott} sent to you the sparking plugs removed from the engine in each case for examination, because he suspected them.

If they have been examined, we should be very interested to know what their internal condition was like. It is frequently suggested that we find that Ethyl fuel leaves a deposit which in time leads to mis-firing.

Another suggestion is that the use of an Ethyl lead fuel exclusively does not do this, but changing about between such fuels and straight petrol is responsible for the formation of a deposit.

K.{Mr Kilner}, we believe, hold the opinion that after a car returns from abroad, having there used alcohol fuel, it will soon be troubled with mis-firing after returning to the use of straight spirit in this country, the suggestion being apparently that a deposit which would otherwise not have formed, does form more readily on the top of an otherwise innocuous deposit left by the alcohol fuel.

What are your views and those of the able men you send on outside jobs?
