Recommendation of lubricating oils and considering alternatives to Price's Oils at the suggestion of the Vacuum Oil Co.

To Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} from BJ. COPY. BJ15/S3.6.20.

Mr. Bryan Hall, of the Vacuum Oil Co. called on me this afternoon and pointed out that so far we were only recommending customers to use Price's oils for chassis, and were Wakefields' for aero engines.

He pointed out that in some parts of the world, and possibly in some parts of Great Britain, Price's Oils might be difficult to obtain, and then the customer would not know what to use.

Under the circumstances, do you think it is desirable for us to consider testing other kinds of lubricating oil, so that we could advise our customers that if they are unable to obtain Price's Oils, a good substitute might be So-and-So's Oils, rather than leave the customer to be the judge.

The Vacuum Co. wish to be in a position to advise their clients which of their oils they, the Vacuum Co., consider are most suited for R-R engines, and they suggest that they shall be permitted to see our oil expert at the works to consider this matter rather than give their opinion without having the advantage of our own expert's advice. Do you see any objection to this?
