1110 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}16/R.{Sir Henry Royce} 9th June, 1937. H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} Armitage, Esq., Messrs. Borg & Beck Company Ltd., Tachbrook Road, LEAMINGTON SPA. Dear Mr. Armitage, I received your telephone message re the suggestion to make the dies and tools necessary for the Long Clutch in England. The question, of course, is whether any drawings for these tools are in existence. If they are in existence, and you can work from them, it would appear to be the solution. The only disadvantage would be we should not have Long's experience in making sure that the tools, and subsequently the final product, were all right. It, however, appears to be a reasonable compromise as we could send some of the first plates made back to the United States for examination. I would, therefore, be glad if you would go ahead on these lines. Confirming our other telephone conversations; you are putting in hand 100 sets of Long plates to Ex.27309 with Thermoid lining (for which you have already cabled to the States), and will get these through as soon as possible. You have also ordered 100 Bentley plates complete as per sample. We should be glad if you would let us have estimated costs as soon as the figures are to hand. We are much indebted to you for the assistance you are giving us on this job. Yours sincerely, | ||
