Rolls Royce Ltd., Experimental Dept., Derby. For the attention of Mr. N. R.{Sir Henry Royce} Chandler. Dear Sirs, We beg to acknowledge your letter of the 4th of June enclosing print of outline drawing EX.27309. We note your remarks in connection with the 13-1/2" x 9-1/2" x 1/8" facing in S.6777 quality, and in particular you refer to the question of moulding the clearance holes and the balance of the rivet holes. We are aware that we ourselves were of the opinion that all the holes should be moulded, if any are to be moulded, but on further consideration we feel that we should like to be quite sure that such a step would be an improvement, or that sufficient improvement cannot be obtained any other way, before we go to the expense of making yet another set of dies. Accordingly we are repeating our work with the existing 13-1/2" die, paying particular attention to the soundness of the finished product, and we should be grateful for the loan of the clutch plate (which you took away with you) to enable us to carry out further spinning tests. Yours faithfully, FERODO LIMITED J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} Mongley. Chief Chemist & Director. | ||
