-------------------------

With reference to the question of curing the oil leak from the spring pot on the above, I am sending you herewith the original of N.Sch.4573 showing the spring pot modified to have a complete circular flange secured with 24 nuts.

This modification has been accomplished by lengthening the studs passing through to the main structure, and accepting that when the spring is disassembled at any time the pressure on the inside oil joint will be released.

It is anticipated, however, that the other portions of the structure will hold the joint together during this operation, but that if any difficulty is experienced it can be overcome in the future by the addition of a single stud on the forward side.

We should be glad if you would send modified parts to GWH{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} for test.

An additional drawing is also attached showing the modifications necessary to the rubber buffer frames which we think can be carried out on the existing pieces.

E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer}

Att:N.Sch.4573.
