Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/AA.{D. Abbot-Anderson})from Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}10/ML.24.3.41. MINUTES OF PRODUCTION MEETING 21.3.41. A discussion took place on the improvement of material supply which was anticipated during the next few days, to enable the Clan Foundry to raise their production to 20 engines per week. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/AA.{D. Abbot-Anderson} said that the Stores at Sawley were being shut down for two days to enable an inventory to be taken of the stock, and that after this had been done it was expected that the material supply would improve and enable production to rise. It was agreed that another meeting would be held next week to see whether expectations had been fulfilled. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/TF.{T. Fisher} said that both room and personnel would be taxed to the limit to do 20 engines a week. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} pointed out that though the Unit Section was crowded, the Erecting Bay was not full to capacity. It was agreed that if necessary, a partition should be put up in the Erecting Bay to enable a portion of it to be used for Unit Erection. A brief discussion was held on the programme likely to be undertaken at the conclusion of the existing Kestrel contract. It seems inevitable that the quantity of repairs in the country should increase by leaps and bounds during the next 12 months and, due to the enormous increase in new engine output, under the circumstances there would be little possibility of the Clan becoming slack. Taking this into consideration, Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} said that Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/TF.{T. Fisher} could try and obtain half a dozen more men. We are still short of an inspector on the chassis side and hope that it will be possible to release Brazier before long. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
