For the attention of Mr. W.E. Robinson.

Dear Sirs,

We thank you for your letter of the 21st inst. ref. X/R3. having special reference to the alto electric horn and new dual arm rack pattern screen wiper which we have had for test here.

Referring to the windscreen wiper, we note from your post-script to the above letter that you are of the opinio that the speed of the wiper is ample, whereas we consider that the wiper should wipe every half second as we find from experience that this is the most useful speed under high speed conditions. We think the motor of this wiper should be designed so that it will be capable of dealing with these speeds without overheating and with sufficient margin of power to avoid the effect of wind pressure on the windscreen at extremely high speeds.

It will be borne in mind that these windscreen wipers, particularly on our 40/50 cars, will have to deal with these extremely high speed conditions of which presumably you have had no definite experience up to the present.

We should be glad to have your comments on these remarks and whether you can see you way clear to modify a wiper for us on the lines suggested ready for an extended test we hope to carry out shortly on one of our Phantom II cars where extremely high speeds will be run.
