X.6011. IGNITION COIL CASES IN BAKELITE CO'S
X.616B. MOULDING MATERIAL.

This material has now been thoroughly tested, both insulation tests at high temperatures of the material on the bench and road tests of two coils having been made. In every way we find this material to be equally good with our present standard Redmanol, and we can confidently recommend its use for production coil cases provided Mr. Brock is satisfied regarding the finish which can be obtained.

We have a complete record of the tests but it is not thought necessary to give these in detail, beyond stating that in the road tests with the coil hot an earthing shield around the outer surface of the coil was used to give any possible leakage effect of the material the best chance of causing misfires.

We have a coil in a case made of this material running on 10,000 mile test chassis 23-EX, and in view of the early completion of this test it may be worth while postponing the actual standardisation of this material until the 10,000 mile test is completed.
