RM.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 619 Fides Card WRAITH III - MODIFIED CYLINDER CORE VENTS. Core Vents. Attached hereto H.CD.90 Modified Cylinder The four vent hole plugs on underface of cylinder are shown lowered .100 and flush with joint face, to make the process of removing the surplus metal from the core plugs easier, as suggested by Experimental Department. The reason this was not done in the original design was, that we were under the impression that the bottom cylinder face milling was done by one face cutter, whereas we understand a second small diameter cutter is used already for finishing the face adjacent to cylinder barrels. Will RMC. please say if he agrees with this proposal, and if so, we will instruct the alteration to be made to the production 25/30 and Bentley cylinder blocks which have recently had these vent plugs added.
