We have carried out a road test on the old type axle with pivots such that the stub axle was at right angles to the king pin bearing, the result being that the wheels had a cant of 2 1/4°. Michelin disc wheels were fitted giving a point of contact very considerably inside that of centrepoint. The result of this test proved that the steering was very unstable on large locks, tending to take charge and suffered badly from joggles, having a definite tendency to wobble between 50/60 m.p.h.
