Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}2/LG23.7.28. K-S TELEGAGE. Since we standardised the K-S petrol gauge they have brought out a scheme whereby there is no possibility of blowing the liquid out of the dashboard unit by building up a positive pressure in the tank through air being unable to escape when the last few gallons of petrol are put in. However we find that with the present type of gauge which we have standardised, and which we have fitted to a number of customers cars, if the top of the filler is covered up whilst petrol is being put in, the gauge can be blown. We have therefore been carrying out some experiments to see how we can increase the air venting of the filler cap when allowing petrol to spill out when the car is running. We attach a note from AJL. indicating the results we have obtained and suggest that similar action should be taken on all cars on which the present type of telegage is fitted. We consider that the modification should apply to both 40/50 and 20 HP. cars. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
