To Mr.G.W.Hancock, Hotel de France, Chateauroux, Indre, FRANCE. From Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1/KT.8.12.33. We wired you yesterday to carry on with the test for a further 5000 miles. We want you to arrange for the car to be back in Derby by Friday Dec. 15th. It has been arranged for Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} to take this same car out to the States, and before he goes we shall want to fit some new front wings and generally examine the car. As regards your letter of 6.12.33. we should like you, on this further running, to do more work on 3rd. speed. The restriction we put on the running is that the revs. must not exceed 4500. We do not agree that the engine has had an exceptionally easy time, we would sooner argue the other way and say that previously the engines had an unfair time. The four trials cars have completed nearly 30,000 miles between them with the old type pistons and they have given no trouble. We want you to make sure that you will arrive in Derby with the car on Friday the 15th. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
