Date 19.10.37 Description of Parts: Extra oil holes in spring drive centre plate to improve lubrication of cotton duck friction washers. Origin: Dryness of cotton duck washers and subsequent alteration to slipping load. Report of Experimental Test: The slipper drive loading as checked after completing the 17,000 miles' run on 32-EX was considerably more consistent than after previous 15,000 miles' tests. Report on test of 32-EX states noticeable absence of crank periods. Cotton duck washers nicely lubricated on inspection. X No. 317. Drawing No. RM.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 394.
