RE CHASSIS 11-EX.

With reference to CWB's report on the above car stating that the steering definitely stiffens after running in wet and mud. We are doubtful whether the wet and mud affects the steering at all. The new steering parts fitted to 11-EX certainly cannot be affected directly by mud and wet. No alteration has been made to the other steering parts since the F.W.B. Silver Ghost cars. If, when the steering is stiff, the wheel can be turned freely for a few degrees it is probable the stiffness is in the linkage and pivots; if the steering is stiff the whole time it will be in the nut and worm. We are expecting 11-EX at Derby this week. We will then be able to say more about this complaint.
