Putney Vale,
LONDON S.W.15.

Dear Sirs,

We have received the following report re the new type plugs with Corundite insulators, which were recently supplied to us by yourselves.

"These plugs were supplied and fitted at Derby and are of the new type with "Corundite" insulators. They have covered 9000 miles since fitting and the gaps were found to be from .035" to .040" with one at .048". The gaps at 3200 miles were .025" - .030"

The points do not appear sufficiently burnt to account for so large an increase in the gap, in fact they are in good condition. It is almost certainly due to the bent wire straightening out under the alternate effect of heating and cooling.

They have been reset at .020" - .025" for further running in the engine."

We would like to know what action you intend to take regarding this matter. Is it possible for the electrodes to be normalised after fixing on the plug body.?

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
