SFT.{Mr Swift} from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} 4-WHEEL BRAKES ON 40/50 HP. At the moment we are concerned with the fact that on the standard 40/50 cars which have been fitted with 4-wheel brakes, the steering is not as good as on the present standard 40/50 HP. cars without the brakes. At the moment, we do not know which modification is making the steering worse. It is complicated by the fact that the cars we have running have fitted to them a number of parts which it has been agreed to abandon, such as - radius rods, alterations to the pendulum lever, nut and worm etc. We expect on Monday to be testing the first car fitted with the correct front springs and anchorage. We hope by the end of next week that we shall know the reason for the steering being worse. When we have satisfied ourselves on the question of steering, we shall be able to recommend the Works can fit up cars with certain of the parts as soon as possible. We also expect next week to be testing a temporary scheme on a 40/50 engine which should tell us whether the new exhaust system is likely to be satisfactory. We anticipate that within a month from when we receive the first car fitted with the latest scheme of brakes that we should know sufficient about them to recommend parts for production. contd:- | ||
