20/25 Gearbox with Isolated Change Speed.
------------------------------------------

The difference in the gearbox/castings discussed in connection with the above amounted to increased stud centres for attaching the housing carrying the gearbox end of the change lever shaft. This housing is of larger size than standard owing to the presence of a universal joint, and it was desired to minimise the swelled up portion of the foot boards to allow maximum room for sliding seats.

The increased stud centres allowed short studs to be used.

On investigating this matter in connection with 21 G 4 we find that the sliding seat mechanism is sufficiently clear to allow for a bigger swelling on the floor boards, and thus avoid any alteration to the gear box.

HDY.{William Hardy} is issuing instructions accordingly to use the existing gearbox, and the floor boards will be made to suit.
