Messrs. Spauldings Ltd.,
40, Gloucester way,
Clerkenwell,
LONDON, E.C.1.

For the attention of Mr.H.J.WCouzens.

Dear Sirs,

Referring to your letter of 20th. inst., we regret that the material which you sent us is not suitable for our purpose, since it is neither flexible enough or soft enough.
In use, this washer EW.1666 has to be stretched over a spigot of 1.550 diameter before being fixed in position - further, it has to be soft in order to give a seal with low unit pressure.

If you can supply any suitable material - rubber either synthetic or otherwise - together with quotations, we shall be interested to examine same.

Yours faithfully,

for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
